A 200 amp machine is not a machine that welds at 200 amps. Duty cycle tells you for how long out of ten minutes, and at what current, and a headline figure without both is meaningless.

E7018 picks up atmospheric moisture within hours of the tin being opened. That moisture becomes hydrogen in the weld metal, and hydrogen cracking can appear days after the job looked finished.

An auto-darkening filter protects against ultraviolet whether it is dark or not. What the switching time changes is visible glare and eye fatigue — which is why a slow filter still leaves you sore at the end of a shift.
